MLA Sanjay Goyal Distributes Assistive Devices to Differently-Abled and Elderly People

In a heartwarming event held at Anukriti Special School in Shahdara, Delhi MLA Sanjay Goyal personally handed over wheelchairs and other assistive devices to differently-abled and elderly citizens. The event was organised in collaboration with ALIMCO (Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India), a unit under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, and the All India Disabled, Widow and Elderly Welfare Committee.

During the distribution, the beneficiaries received 4 motorized tricycles, 7 wheelchairs, 6 children’s kits, 7 walking sticks, 5 hearing aids, and 5 support belts. The devices aim to make the everyday lives of people with disabilities a little easier and more comfortable.

Sunehri Lal Yadav, President of the organizing committee, welcomed the guests and thanked everyone for their support. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rakesh Raman Jha, Vice President of the committee, praised the government’s efforts under Prime Minister Narendra Modi in providing medical and mobility support to people with disabilities. However, he also pointed out that many government buildings still lack proper accessibility. A report by the CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General) shows that only 20% of buildings are accessible to people with disabilities.

MLA Sanjay Goyal appreciated the committee’s work and said he was inspired by their dedication to serving differently-abled people and elderly mothers. He promised to do everything possible to make life easier for the differently-abled in Delhi. “We are committed to helping them live with dignity and independence,” he said.

The event saw the presence of several community members and guests, including journalists Arun Sharma, Vijay Verma, Deepak Sagar, Reena Sharma, Vandana Negi, Nisha Sharma, Kavita Yadav, and others. Geeta Rani, President of BJP’s Dilshad Garden Mandal, was also in attendance along with Lakhan Gautam, Amit Yadav, and Dr. Manoj Sharma.

Experts from ALIMCO — Dr. Akanksha Joshi, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Rai, and Yogesh Sharma — explained how to properly use the equipment so that the beneficiaries could get the most benefit from them.

The event brought smiles and hope to many, proving that a little support can go a long way in changing lives.
