Halobetasol Propionate

Halobetasol Propionate is a high-potency topical corticosteroid used to reduce inflammation, redness, and itching associated with various skin conditions. It works by suppressing inflammatory responses and immune reactions in the skin.

Indications

It is a super-high potency corticosteroid indicated for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses.


Dosage

Apply a thin layer to the affected skin once or twice daily. Cream is a super-high potency topical corticosteroid, therefore, treatment should be limited to two weeks, and amounts greater than 50g/wk should not be used. It should not be used with occlusive dressings.


Contra-Indications

Hypersensitivity.


Special Precautions

-For external use only. -Avoid applying to face, groin, or underarms, unless prescribed. -Prolonged use may cause skin atrophy, striae, or HPA axis suppression. -Do not use under occlusive dressings. -Avoid contact with eyes. -Use with caution in pregnancy and lactation.


Side Effects

Stinging, burning or itching, dry skin, erythema, skin atrophy, leukoderma, vesicles, and rash.


Drug Interactions

-No major topical drug interactions reported. -Increased systemic absorption may interact with other corticosteroids when used excessively or on large body areas.
