Acyclovir
It has antiviral activity (details in chapter of antibiotics under subheading of Antiviral)Ophthalmic ointment is useful for the treatment of keratitis caused by Herpes simplex virus.
1 cm ribbon of ointment should be placed inside the lower conjunctival sac 5 times a day.
Hypersensitivity.
Donot use skin ointment for ophthalmic purpose. Pregnancy, lactation.
Transient mild stinging may occur in eyes.
