AZADIRACHTA INDICA / NEEM

It is commonly known as Margosa or Neem in India. Active chemical constituents of neem are azadirachtin, salanin, nimbidin, nimbin, etc. It exhibits antiseptic, antimicrobial, anti-fungal, anthelmintic, anti-HIV, antispasmodic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antidiabetic, antipyretic hepatoprotective, gastroprotective, and contraceptive properties. It is used to reduce head lice infestation. It also helps to improve immunity and acts as a detoxifying agent.

Indications

Psoriasis, acne, eczema, gingivitis, fever, inflammation, piles arthritis, fungal infections, viral and bacterial infection, cancer, diabetes, brain stroke, malaria, jaundice, arrhythmia, vitiligo and abdominal discomfort.


Contra-Indications

Renal impairment, and hepatic disorders.


Special Precautions

Consult a physician before using it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.


Side Effects

Mouth ulcer, vomiting, acidosis, and seizures in children.


Drug Interactions

Antidiabetic drugs, and immunosuppressant drugs.
