Carisoprodol
Treatment of muscle spasm of local origin are due more to sedative effects than to muscle relaxant activity. It is more effective than mephenesin against decerebrate rigidity & exhibits weak anticholinergic activity. It is also antipyretic.Musculo-skeletal disorders, tetanus.
Adults: 250-350 mg thrice daily. Elderly: 125 mg thrice daily.
acute Intermittent porphyria.
Alcoholism or drug depende-nce. Renal or hepatic disorders. Avoid long term use. Paediatrics: Carisoprodol is not recommended for children below 12 years. Pregnancy: Contraindicated. Lactation: Contraindicated. Elderly: Reduced dose necessary
Drowsiness, constipation, rash, nausea, headache
Potentiates alcohol and other CNS depressants.
