ESTRADIOL TRANSDERMAL SYSTEM

The Estradiol Transdermal System is a hormone replacement therapy (HRT) patch that delivers controlled amounts of estradiol through the skin into the bloodstream. It is designed to relieve symptoms of estrogen deficiency in menopausal and postmenopausal women and to support bone health. Transdermal therapeutic system, containing estradiol, releasing 0.025, 0.05 or 0.1 mg/day.

Indications

Estrogen deficiency due to the menopause. Prevention of accelerated postmenopausal bone loss.


Dosage

Application once every 3-4 days. Continuous or cyclic administration.


Contra-Indications

Carcinoma of the breast or endometrium;endometriosis, vaginal bleeding of unknown origin; severe liver damage; a history of, or active thrombophlebitis, thrombosis, or thromboembolic disorders;, hypersensitivity, pregnancy and lactation.


Special Precautions

Heart failure, hypertension, disorders of renal or hepatic function, epilepsy, migraine, fibrocystic disease of the breasts, leiomyomas of the uterus, diabetes, family history of breast cancer.


Side Effects

Skin irritation, breast discomfort, migraine, generalised pruritus and exanthema. thrombophlebitis.
