LATANOPROSTENE BUNOD

Latanoprostene Bunod is an ocular hypotensive medication used to lower intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. It is a prostaglandin analog with a nitric oxide-donating moiety, which helps relax the eye’s drainage pathways and improve fluid outflow.

Indications

- Open-angle glaucoma - Ocular hypertension


Dosage

- Usually administered as one drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening. - Dosage may vary depending on the patient’s response and physician’s recommendation. - Avoid using more than the prescribed dose.


Contra-Indications

- Known hypersensitivity to latanoprostene bunod or any component of the formulation - Eye infections or active inflammation


Special Precautions

- Remove contact lenses before administration; wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting. - Use caution in patients with a history of eye surgeries, injuries, or macular edema. - May cause gradual changes in eye color (increased brown pigmentation of the iris) and eyelash growth. - Monitor patients with a history of herpetic keratitis.


Side Effects

- Eye redness or irritation - Burning or stinging sensation - Increased eyelash growth or pigmentation - Eye discomfort, itching, or tearing - Rare: changes in vision, macular edema, or allergic reactions


Drug Interactions

- Use with caution when combined with other ocular hypotensive agents. - No significant systemic drug interactions reported due to minimal systemic absorption.
