TRIFLUOPERAZINE
Trifluoperazine is an antipsychotic medication used to treat various mental health conditions, including schizophrenia and anxiety disorders. -Dosage of trifluoperazine varies depending on the condition being treated, the patient's age, and other individual factors. It is typically administered orally in tablet form, with dosages adjusted gradually to achieve optimal therapeutic effects. -1-2 mg twice daily.
Drowsines, coma, extrapyramidal reactions, hepatic/renal disease, hypersensitivity.
Epilepsy, G.I. obstruction, CVD, phaeochromocytoma, brain damage. Avoid prolonged use. Paediatrics: Not recommended below 6 years. Pregnancy & LactationUse with caution only if clearly indicated. Elderly: Use only if clearly indicated.
Common side effects of trifluoperazine may include drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, and blurred vision. More serious side effects such as tardive dyskinesia and neuroleptic malignant syndrome are rare but can occur, particularly with long-term use or high doses.
Potntiate CNS depressants. MAOIs results in orthostatic hypotension. Guanethidine, methyldopa, clonidine reverses antihypertensive effects. Antacids decreases trifluoperazine bioavailability.
