Delhi Medical Association Calls For Vigilance and Unity Amid Indo-Pak Tensions

In light of the escalating Indo-Pak tensions and heightened national security concerns, the Delhi Medical Association (DMA) has issued an urgent advisory to the medical community across the capital. Emphasizing the importance of readiness, discipline, and responsibility, the association is calling on doctors, healthcare workers, and hospital administrators to take immediate steps to safeguard public health and ensure continuity of care during this period of uncertainty.

The advisory, signed by DMA President Dr. Girish Tyagi, Honorary State Secretary Dr. Satish Lamba, and Honorary Finance Secretary Dr. A.S. Popli, reflects the association’s strong stance on the role of the medical fraternity in supporting the nation during crises. The DMA is urging all its members to cancel all non-essential activities—including social, academic, and celebratory events—until the situation stabilizes. Hospitals and clinics have been advised to boost safety protocols, review emergency preparedness systems, and ensure adequate stockpiles of medicines, surgical supplies, and blood units. The aim is to remain fully equipped to handle any sudden influx of trauma cases or emergency situations.

The advisory further stresses the need for regular mock drills to ensure that staff and patients are familiar with emergency protocols. Hospital administrators have been advised to postpone all staff leaves to maintain operational strength and readiness.

Recognizing the potential for misinformation to cause panic, the DMA strongly recommends that medical professionals rely only on verified updates from government and defense sources. Circulating rumors or unconfirmed news—especially on social media—has been strongly discouraged. At the same time, the association is encouraging doctors to take an active role in communicating accurate and calming information to the public, helping to counter fear and support mental well-being.

DMA members who are willing to volunteer their services during emergencies are being urged to register with their local branches. Such volunteers may be called upon in the event of conflict or natural disaster, where their medical expertise could be crucial.

The advisory also highlights the importance of coordination with government bodies, including disaster management authorities and defense medical teams, to ensure a unified and effective response across all levels of care.

Reaffirming its unwavering commitment to national service, the Delhi Medical Association concluded the advisory with a message of solidarity and resilience: “Let us serve with commitment, courage, and compassion.”

This call to action by one of the nation’s leading medical organizations underscores the critical role of healthcare professionals not only as caregivers but as essential contributors to national stability during times of crisis.
