Sonia Gandhi Hospitalised with Respiratory Discomfort, Condition Stable

Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital late on Monday night after experiencing respiratory discomfort, hospital authorities said.

According to Dr Ajay Swaroop, Chairman of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, medical examination revealed a mild exacerbation of her bronchial asthma, caused by the combined impact of cold weather and air pollution. As a precautionary measure, she was admitted to the hospital around 10 pm for observation and treatment.

Doctors stated that Sonia Gandhi’s condition is stable and that she is responding well to the treatment. She is currently being treated with antibiotics and other supportive medications.

Hospital sources said the decision regarding her discharge will be taken by the treating physicians based on her clinical progress and is likely within the next one or two days. Medical teams continue to closely monitor her condition.
